Unknown Paths

I recently had a conversation with a good friend of mine thinking back over some of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make. And one of those was our decision to leave our steady life in SC to pursue missions in Alaska and all that it took to get us to the field a year later.

It was a new path - a rocky one at times.

In fact, before we left, our daughter had one major surgery and then a second because of complications. Just before the closing on the house we sold, the kitchen flooded. I sold my small business, my husband left his job, and we moved into short-term housing as we packed up our belongings and put them on a truck that would eventually transport them to Alaska.

And at every turn we heard God saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

It was still overwhelming - there were so many unclear steps and we couldn’t see the path fully. But step by step we pressed on.

For this month’s theme, we will be talking about the unknown path

We’ve all been there. In fact, isn’t it true that most of life is an unknown path with all of its twists and turns and blind spots? If it were up to us, we’d mostly stay put within our comfort and routine.

Because comfort is, well . . . comforting.

But somewhere out there God has a plan that you and I have never dreamed of. It might be a small shift or a large change. But either way, it’s a meaningful piece of the tapestry He’s weaving. We can trust that He is always doing new things.

Our job is to be open to the unknown path.

Restore the joy of your salvation to me,

and sustain me by giving me a willing spirit.

Psalm 51:12 CSB

This is what He asks for: a willing spirit. From there, He will faithfully lead the way.

So begin to listen carefully.

What new path is He unveiling in your life right now?

Today is a GOOD day,

Natalie
