But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives.
~ Phil. 3:18, 20 NLT
As believers, we know that in a short while God will set all things right – but until then, what are we to do?
The world is a mess right now. And maybe it’s always been this way, but between social media and instant news, we are bombarded with firsthand images mere minutes after tragedy strikes.
Fear and anger battle to run our world. Self-centeredness presses in to beat out selflessness. So little of the greater good is acknowledged even though we know it’s out there. Instead, we’re exposed to the bad because havoc sells.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ~ Eph. 2:10 NIV
Our citizenship is not here, but in heaven. Yet, this is where we live our days right now. And in these days we can make a difference – in our families, in our workplaces, in our communities, in our world.
Though we are only here for a little while, it pleases the Lord when we do all the good we can in the time we’re given here on earth. What does that look like for you?
I’m reminded as I go through the checkout line, drive through our city’s crowded interstates, check-in at the doctor’s office, drop something by our son’s school, volunteer at church – that these are all opportunities to do good, to let someone see Jesus’s love through me.
The world needs our good! We can’t let fear or anger diminish the good we need to do and be.
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. ~ 2 Cor. 9:8 NIV
YOU are needed today – maybe now more than ever before. Your heart is in heaven, but your work is here.
This is your chance.
DO and BE good in the world today.
Verse to Memorize
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. ~ Heb. 13:16 NIV
TODAY is a good day!
